Deceleration
The last few weeks have been crazy busy as usual, but with good reason. We’re on vacation! We are first visiting Jen’s dad, who lives approximately two hours’ drive from the nearest interstate. It’s a sleepy little town in the “thumb” of Michigan that is so unlike San Diego. This morning we walked to the park, and there was no traffic to speak of; Tara alternated between running and lumping along the yellow dividing line on the road most of the way there. The park (a school actually) had the largest play structure I’ve ever seen, and for the first hour there wasn’t a single other child there.
We have two weeks to spend between here and my folks’ cottage. The girls are practically giddy–nothing but grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and lots of swimming for the next few weeks. Both girls should sleep a lot tonight; the switch from Pacific to Eastern made for a short night.
